During the time of their marriage, Shelly enjoyed many hobbies, one of which was researching the family history of the Jamison family. As her skill and interest increased through the 1970s, she expanded her research expertise and in the late 70's she created the opportunity to research the ancestry of Sylvester Stallone. The news clipping at the top of this story is from the Colorado Springs Gazette of December 1979, recounting that experience.
When Shelly's research of the Stallone family was completed, she gifted her mother-in-law Irene Jamison with this autographed portrait that "Sly" Stallone gave her. Irene is pictured in the wedding photograph above at second from left.
I told Shelly she should write the story of this experience for her descendants. It's quite remarkable and needs to be acknowledged. Her reply was "The younger kids probably would ask "Who's Sylvester Stallone?"' Those of us who had our families in the 1970s and 1980s certainly know who "Rocky" was!
Good job, Shelly! Your excellent research and hard work won't be forgotten.
Thank you for writing this! It was a interesting time. Thank you again!
